Denim shorts are a great basic for all ages. I was relieved to read an article last year in Vogue magazine that described denim shorts as ageless. My own personal belief that they are indeed ageless, relies largely on getting the length and fit right to suit you.

So if you can work them, short shorts are cute. I still prefer a boyfriend fit versus the high cut too much information variety. If you are not so keen on the tops of your thighs (as lots of women are not whatever their age) then perhaps go for a fit that can be a little more slouchy, slightly longer in length and relaxed. Boyfriend cut, cuffed and just above the knee length is another cool option if shorts are usually a major NO for you.
